Our client wanted a day of two halves! The first half of the day was to be a team building day to bring together a number of new and existing key people from their project team to foster good working relationships. The second half of the day was to focus on understanding collaborative working as the project is a collaboration between two organisations and the client organisation.
The First Half:
For the first half of the day we used three team building activities and adapted their set up to accommodate the need for the group of approximately 20 attendees to collaborate as a whole group and as subgroups.
The first activity involved working as one whole group to achieve an objective and needed the team to develop their own process and then follow it in the most efficient way setting their own performance targets.
The second activity split the team into four sub teams who each had to complete their own task in order for the whole team to achieve an overall objective.
The third activity split the team into three sub teams who were reliant on each other to achieve the overall team objective.
The Second Half:
After a well earned lunch the team then regrouped and we completed a graffitti wall of what collaboration was and was not which prompted some discussion. This then led into the team splitting into sub teams reflecting their working groups on the project to examine what they could do in order to work more collaboratively. This created an action plan for the team to implement.
'I just wanted to say thank you for the workshop last week. It was very well thought through, and the agenda really suited the subject areas we wanted to explore.' Project Manager
